We study the threshold from the rest of the home, the path to the wardrobe and bath, and the way morning and evening light move across the room. Bedroom lighting should never be a single bright source. We layer it: soft architectural cove lighting to wash the ceiling, a sculptural pendant or chandelier as the room’s jewel, bedside reading light on its own circuit, and warm accent light to model the textures of the walls. Everything sits on dimmers, so the room can move from bright to deeply restful at the turn of a dial.
Materials are chosen for warmth and tactility — timber, stone, wool, linen and the occasional velvet — in a palette of deep, restful neutrals. The aim is a room that feels enveloping rather than showy.
A palette built for calm
Ultra-luxury bedrooms tend to be quiet in colour. We build them on warm taupes, charcoals, soft greys and ivories, then introduce richness through texture and material rather than loud hues.
